Detwiller Family

HENRY DETWILLER (June 8, 1842-December 1, 1900), born in Ontario, Canada, of Pennsylvania Dutch & Scotch.; son of Christian & Marian (Campbell) Detwiller, married Mathilde Moore, who was born in Canada of Irish ancestry, and was daughter of Sam and Mary (Carson) Moore. Henry Detwiller came in 1882 and took land, built a home and returned in 1886 with his family. 7 children.

  1. MARY, born, 1874, in Ontario married Robert Pratt, 1899. 7 children: Mrs. Robert (Erma) Jones, Mrs. Henry (Marian) Baldwin, Lawrence E., married, 1940, Rachael Aalgaard, Kenneth R., married, 1935, Phyllis M. Burk; Wallace C. married Doris (Dora) Nelson; Earl, single; Howard, single.
  2. JOHN, (1872-1941), married, 1903, Gertrude Idalette Sherman (1873_1951) of Wisconsin No children.
  3. ANDREW M. (1881-1937), born in Ontario, Canada, married, 1903, Isabelle Beattie of Ontario, Canada. Children: Harold, married daughter of William Sansburn she died in 1950; Ronald, married Miss Pella; Mrs. Elmer (Vivian) Smith; Mrs. Ray (Myrtle) Kent.
  4. ALEX (1878-1927), married Margaret McNab of Wisconsin Son: Duncan A. (1910-1924).
  5. Fred (1879-1938), married, 1916, Martha Armstrong. Daughter: Lenore, married William Paintner.
  6. WILLIAM (1877-1895).
  7. HARRY (Henry) R., born 1891 in Griggs County, married Lil (Lily) E. Williams of Wisconsin Children: Mrs. Hemice (Mary Evelyn) Palzkill of Wisconsin 10 children: William Henry, married Betty Knapp, 2 children. Catheryn Eileen, married Marvin Walen. 2 children. Patrick Roger, married Mary Ronning. 4 children.

ALEX B. DETWILLER (1872-1954), born August 5, 1872 at St. Marys, Ontario, Canada; came to Griggs County 1895; married Agnes Roger (1872-1938) in 1900. No children. His father was brother of Henry Detwiller and his mother was sister of Mrs. Henry (Jane) Detwiller.

HARRY C. DETWILLER, brother of Alex B. and nephew of Henry, was born May 15, 1875 at St. Marys, Ontario Canada; came to Griggs County 1897-1910; died June 1936 in Mont.
