Torkel Vigesaa Family

Torkel Vigesaa was born in Norway in 1868.  He came to America in 1888 and settled in Broadview Township, two years later.  He was married to Lovisa Osland in 1894.  They were the parents of eight children:

  1. Betsy Vigesaa
  2. Gudrid Vigesaa
  3. Agnes Vigesaa
  4. Ruth Vigesaa
  5. Mildred Vigesaa
  6. Trygve Vigesaa
  7. Lawrence Vigesaa
  8. Hurluf Vigesaa

Mr. Vigesaa passed away in 1937, Mrs. Vigesaa in 1959.

  1. Betsy Vigesaa married Albert Berge in 1919.  They were the parents of five children:

    1. Luella
    2. Ellen
    3. Torry
    4. Rober
    5. Ronald

Albert Berge passed away in 1959.  They farmed in Sverdrup Township.

  1. Gudrid Vigesaa married Carl Hetland.  They were the parents of three children:

    1. Mavis
    2. Phillip
    3. Glenn

The Hetlands farmed in Sverdrup Township.

  1. Agnes Vigesaa married Lars Nevland and they have one daughter:

    1. LeVon

In addition to farming, Mr. Nevland was a carpenter in Sverdrup Township.

  1. Ruth Vigesaa married Oswald Wuflestad and they are the parents of four children: 

    1. Gene
    2. Monroe
    3. Mary Lou
    4. Dorothy

They farmed in Sverdrup Township.

  1. Mildred Vigesaa married Lester Erickson.  They have served as Missionaries in Africa, plus churches in Canada and the states.  They are presently (1975) at Barnesville, Minnesota They have four children:

    1. Ruth
    2. Rachel
    3. Joel
    4. Phillip
  1. Trygve Vigesaa married Elsie Bergstad of Lake Park, Minnesota.  They have six children: 

    1. Karen
    2. Loren
    3. Daniel
    4. Harold
    5. Steven
    6. Rebecca

The Trygve Vigesaa family farmed the home farm in Broadview Township.

  1. Lawrence Vigesaa married Constance Watne.  They were the parents of six sons and one daughter: 

    1. Theodore
    2. George
    3. David
    4. Larry
    5. Torkel
    6. Peter
    7. Carolyn

Mrs. Vigesaa passed away in 1963.  They farmed in Sverdrup Township.

  1. Herluf Vigesaa married Ruth Bergstad from Menarga, Minnesota They have four children:

    1. Everett
    2. Kathy
    3. Roald
    4. Jeanne

They farmed in Sverdrup Township.
