O. E. Braathen

Mayville, North Dakota

is from Ringerike. He was born in Hole Parish district on March 21, 1865. He moved to Kristiania, where he where he was a mechanic. After that he worked at Moestne & Company and then emigrated on May 17, 1887 to Portland, North Dakota. He has lived most of the time in Mayville, North Dakota.

His wife, Annie Knudsen, is from Krodsherred. Their oldest son, Frithjof A. Braathen, is at the Great Northern Office in Grace City, North Dakota. The other son, Sverre O. Braathen, goes to the Normal School in Mayville, North Dakota. Their daughter, Antonie Margarethe, is home.

Braathen operates the confectionary and restaurant. He is a very interesting Norwegian, and has contributed to the erection of Bjornson memorial stones in Mayville, North Dakota.
