is from Hadelaending, He was born in Thingelstad on June 10, 1863 and emigrated to America in 1889 to Mayville, North Dakota and has lived there since. He has been a farmer and a businessman with the Elken Brothers Company. He had the first implement Company in 1902 and then he sold out to Horton. He has operated the Land business since then and has interests in the Goose River Bank and several others businesses.
He has been married two times. His first wife, Sara Grinagervar, was from Hadeland. His second wife, Agnes Skinborg, is of Gudbrandsdalsaet.
His son, Clarence Elken, is a lawyer in Parcel, North Dakota. His daughter, Clare, is married to Lynn Sarles of Hillsboro. Elkens home is near Normal School and is one of the most beautiful buildings in Mayville, North Dakota.
