Richard R. Lofthus

McVille, North Dakota

is a farmer. He was born in Rauland on August 23, 1877 and emigrated to America in 1886 together with his father, Bjorn Lofthus, and his mother Taaraan Romtvedt, to Devils Lake, North Dakota. He took a homestead of preemption in Ramsey, County, North Dakota and moved to Nelson in 1895 to Norway Township, near Mcville, and has lived there since as a farmer.

His wife, Hilda Olsen, was born in America of Norwegian parents from Telemarken, who lived four miles from Lee, P. O. and were the first settlers in that area in 1879. They have one daughter, June Elisabeth.
