Pastor Sigurd Olsen

Cooperstown, North Dakota

was born in Kristiania on October 25, 1860 and emigrated to America in 1866 along with his father, Pastor Johan Olsen, who was a Priest in Ansgar, Iowa for 30 years and conference negotiator from 1872 to 1881. He died in 1911 and his wife, Rakel Johanne Rodi, died in 1910.

Pastor Sigurd Olsen’s Wife’s Name was Emily Veblen, sister of Professor Veblen, and she was from Valdres. He attended Augsburg Seminar from 1875 to 1880 (A. B.) and Capital University from 1881 to 1885 (C. T.). He was aPriest in Benona, Michigan from 1885 to 1886 and Neenah, Wisconsin from 1886 to 1891. He was a teacher at St. Ansgar Seminar from 1891 to 1901. He was the manager of the same from 1893 to 1901. He was a Priest in Stephen, Minnesota from 1901 to 1908; Oslo, Minnesota from 1908 to 1914 and in Cooperstown, North Dakota since then. They have four children: Their oldest son, Carl A. Veblen, is the treasurer of the First National Bank in Hallock, Minnesota. Ingvald Veblen is a sudent at Minnesota University receiving education to be a dentist. Rachel Olsen is a Music teacher in Cooperstown, North Dakota. Edgar Olsen graduated from High School in Cooperstown, North Dakota.
