Emil Carlson

 

By O. D. Purinton, Clerk and Historian of the Old Settlers Association. Emil Carlson, son of Andreas and Ann Carlson, was born in Wermland Sweden on July 23 1862. Came to Steele County in 1881 when Valley City was the nearest railroad point, though there was a Post Office at the house of Andrew Knutson, Lybek. Omund Nelson was his nearest neighbor. Here he stayed until he built his log shanty.

He was married Nov. 16, 1886 to Johanna Hendrickson He has prospered. In 1913 he retired, rented his farm to his sons and moved to Finley with his family

He became a member of this Association in 1910.
