Ole Martinson

Moorhead, Minnesota

was born in Stordalen on January 19, 1847 and emigrated to America in 1874 to St. Peter, Minnesota. He moved later to Minneapolis. He came to Moorhead in 1882 and has lived there since, was a businessman for many years. He sold out and now lives peacefully as a "retiree" in his beautiful home.

His wife, Kristine Otto, is from Hafslo in Sogn. They have three children. Their daughter, Mollie Martinsen, is a very capable and reputable pianist and is now the manager of the music department at Concordia College, from where a number of promising young pianists have graduated. Their son, Erik Martinson, is a road engineer in Clay County, and Oscar Martinson have the jewelry business in Moorhead. He is also a very known and sought after singer.

Both Martinson and his wife take part with much interest in Sondmors regional society and Sortdmors Women's Union "Lyngen" and in the Norwegian meetings and reunions. Their beautiful home is decorated with paintings, especially from Sondmore. It is a home where music, art and Norwegian heritage are cultivated.
